The large rings move freely but offer help with turning almost as a D ring would. The loose ring is a standard jaw piece. This jaw piece has separate rings which allow the bit to move more freely in the mouth so that many horses accept this bit well. To prevent skins from getting between the moving rings, it is advisable to provide the bit with bit rings.
