This style of pistol was popular around the turn of the century, right when the Napoleonic Wars were raging in Europe. This is definitely an Officer's pistol, privately purchased for use at sea. While these usually just have a brass barrel, this nice example also has a brass lock plate as well! All of the other fittings look to be brass, or possibly nickel silver. The only iron parts on the pistol are the screws and
