This is an incredibly rare French Pre WWI Kepi For a high ranking Medical officer, possibly a General's rank. This is a worn example with heavy bullion gilt wire embroidery of laurel leaves across the rich wine red velvet hat band. It was never fixed with a chinstrap or buttons. While the all red construction indicates medical the laurel leaf band and caduceus indicates a very high ranking officer. The top of the hat
