Their common names refer to the characteristic horns borne only by the males of most species in the group

Common Green Charaxes sunflower decor Many dung beetles*Charaxes eupale can be found in the lowland evergreen forests of Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, & Malawi. Their green coloring is due to pigmentation, as opposed to the color being produced structurally (scales). This specimen is encased in a 3"x4" frame.
