A preliminary search did not find much information on Ely, which is common as records from the Indian War are very sparse. The coat is very well named on the interior to Ely in ink. The M1885 jacket bears nine M1872 uniform buttons on the front, and 6 on the cuffs, all manufactured by Horstmann in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The coat also
