This is a very nice set of 1916 French 8 x 24 trench binoculars, made in Puteaux by the Socit de Recherches et de Perfectionnements Industriels (Society of Industrial Research and Development or SRPI). MG means Ministre de la Guerre (Ministry of War). Nicely marked on the right side with the magnification information: 8 X 24 DECIGRADES The left side has the manufacturer markings and serial number: M. G. S. R. P. I.
