and there is a crisp date of 1863 on the top of the barrel

Two data plates showing details of model and patent dates to 1937 and 1938

these are in un-issued NOS (New Old Stock) condition and are marked with the Canadian large WW2 C with Broad Arrow stamp

and it looks like a grateful and thoughtful previous owner had the Rifle UPGRADED to a fine hunting rifle
