The interior of the helmet has much of the original paint present with minor surface rust

based on the use of the foil and the attached (rather than the removable) leather chinstrap we suspect it is from the late 1930s or possibly a wartime helmet

It was replaced with a simple white line painted up the length of the barrel

The load was not a light one

and a sword inside the arrow

This is a very interesting pocket bible that likely belonged to James Frederick Carper, either being taken overseas or kept by his sister, Mary, whose name is in the front with a date of January 23rd, 1918. As James left for France in July 1918, its possible she gifted this to him before he left, and received it back with his personal belongings. There is an inscription on the 2nd page: JAMES FREDERICK CARPER BORN APRIL
