This is an exceptionally nice looking two band Snider Short Musket. The lock is nicely marked: CROWN V. R. ENFIELD 1871 The brass Butt Plate marked with 171, the prison rack number. The Mark III action bears very clear manufacturer's markings and British proof marks. The barrel measures 27" overall and made smoothbore especially for prison service. The musket shows evidence of an ancient break or crack at the wrist
