What a story this little guy could tell. This "Zippo" style lighter is painted in soid olive drab paint with the name and serial number of M. DRAKE 32677380 scratched in on one side, and IWO JIMA 2 19 45 on the other. A cursory search of the serial number found one Pvt. Merton C. Drake, originally from Binghamton, N. Y.. He enlisted in 1942 and is listed with a civilian occupation of "Skilled mechanics and repairmen, n.
